Tortuguero is teaming with wildlife including crocodiles, caimans, monkeys, sloths, poison dart frogs, turtles, bats, and much more. And with jungle, open range, swampland, fresh water and ocean habitats converging in one place, Tortuguero is especially rich and diverse in its bird species.

Moreover, for centuries, green turtles, leatherbacks, and other marine turtles have visited the shores here to lay their eggs. For much of the year you can experience this magical renewal of life first-hand. Tortuguero is cut off from the world by water and lush jungle, no roads in or out, so just getting there is an adventure in itself.

You do not have to start and end this trip in the same city. You can do this trip from the South Caribbean (Limon, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, etc.) or from San Jose and end the trip in either location, your choice. That way, if you intend to go from one point to another anyway, you can avoid a wasted travel day. If you want to start and end in the same place, that's no problem.

INCLUDES:

• Ground transportation from South Caribbean (Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, etc.) to the docks in Moin (one-way),
• Boat from Moin through canals to the village of Tortuguero (one-way or round trip),
• 1-night lodging in a basic, clean cabina, double occupancy, with private bathroom, hot water and fan.
• Canal Tour in Tortuguero National Park with a local guide in a large dugout canoe with an electric motor.
• Sales tax.

• Return or onward transportation of any kind. (For extra charges, we will arrange return transportation to the South Caribbean, or onward transportation to San Jose. See Options below)

• Single Supplement - If you are traveling alone, you must pay extra: $30
• Option 1 - Turtle Tour (in season only): $10 (pay in Tortuguero)
• Option 2 - Extra night in hotel: $10 per person for double or triple occupancy, $15 for single occupancy.
• Option 3 - Return boat and ground transportation from Tortuguero to the South Caribbean: for 2 people or more, $45 each, for single travelers $65.
• Option 4 - Onward transportation from Tortuguero to San Jose with a canal and hiking tour: $35
