Tortuguero is teaming with wildlife including crocodiles, caimans, monkeys, sloths, poison dart frogs, turtles, bats, and much more. And with jungle, open range, swampland, fresh water and ocean habitats converging in one place, Tortuguero is especially rich and diverse in its bird species.

Moreover, for centuries, green turtles, leatherbacks, and other marine turtles have visited the shores here to lay their eggs. For much of the year you can experience this magical renewal of life first-hand. Tortuguero is cut off from the world by water and lush jungle, no roads in or out, so just getting there is an adventure in itself.

You do not have to start and end this trip in the same city. You can do this trip from the South Caribbean (Limon, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, etc.) or from San Jose and end the trip in either location, your choice. That way, if you intend to go from one point to another anyway, you can avoid a wasted travel day. If you want to start and end in the same place, that's no problem.

Budget Package
This is our most price-friendly package and has many options to choose from so that you only purchase what you need. The basic package includes land and aquatic transportation, hotel (basic but clean with private hot-water bathroom), and a canal tour in a large canoe with a local guide.

Value Package
We believe that this is your best package for just a little more money. It's basically the same as the Budget Package but includes nicer accommodations, a breakfast, and for the canal tour, a more comfortable, faster boat with a biologist guide.

Deluxe Package
For those who require more pampering and all-inclusive convenience, the Deluxe Package is perfect. Includes a jungle lodge, all meals, village tour, jungle tour and canal tour, and return or onward transportation.
